Is architecture art?
A building is a building for the sake of protecting people from the elements. Its the difference between art and design in general. Design has a function/purpose. Architecture with out function or purpose is sculpture.
Architecture is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructing buildings. Architectural works are often understood as cultural symbols and works of art. Historical civilizations are often identified by their surviving architectural achievements.
