ALLen Reads - What is it?
ALLen Reads is a one-book program under the leadership of the Friends of the Allen Public Library. It is unique in one-book programs in that related books are chosen as “companions” to the main book to promote families and all generations reading and talking together. The goals set for ALLen Reads are to:
stimulate interest in the pleasure and importance of reading
engage the residents of our community as we come together - in schools, families, book groups, civic organizations and more - to discuss the book and the issues it raises
encourage reading at all ages
include everyone, especially those new to the country or community
bring the community together through shared activities and experiences
The book our class will be looking at is the
The Matchbox Diary
by Paul Fleischman, illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline.

The Matchbox Project - What do we do?
All art students will create 2 matchboxes that house personal memories.
Use the template worksheet provided by your teacher to create your own matchbox. Paint it, draw on it, color it, print it digitally - however you want to make it your own.
Click HERE for the informational PowerPoint that was presented in class.
Guidelines:
1. The box must be illustrated in some way to represent a memory you have.
2. There must be a found object inside that in some way ties to your theme or memory.
3. Your name must be on the back of the inside drawer.
4. This is due to your teacher before December Exams for a grade!!!
