Photography - Light and Shadow
Many of you are looking at exploring photography as a part of your IB research.
You are starting to ask questions:
-What makes a good photo?
-How do I make photography art?
-Why is this snapshot I took on my phone from a moving car not art, teacher?
Well, lets talk about it.
What makes a good photo and what makes it "ART"?
-Clear, crisp photos.
"I like it better that way" does not justify a bad photo.
-Good contrast.
Where are the shadows and highlights? How have you intentionally balanced your low values and high values?
-Strong composition.
Is your picture crooked? Where are the objects? Is there formal balance or is it asymmetrical?
-Free of distractions or obstructions.
No, we will not ignore the weird car in your picture or that bird that photobombed your perfect image.
-Know what you are doing.
Research. What is an f-stop? Exposure? Shutter speed?
