IB Candidate Statement - What is it?

What is an IB Candidate Statement?

A required 300 word essay that is a part of the assessment process. It will be submitted electronically and read by the examiner.

It is also an introduction to your artwork. It allows the examiner to get to know the student and his artwork. It is a chance for students to discuss their ideas, influences and the journey undertaken during the course.

A good candidate statement is a clear, truthful, summary of the students artistic journey during the IB Art course.

Reminder: Option A students address primarily studio work and how the research supports it. Option B students address primarily the Investigation...

Write below a short critical analysis of your visual arts work in option A or option B. Consider some or all of the following key words to help you with your statement. Of course not every one of these key terms can be discussed and it is best to focus on the ones that are particularly relevant to the students’ work.
